How do you live with eyes wide open?

I have discovered that something is awakened through failure, tragedy, and disappointment. It is a place of learning and potential creativity. In such moments you can get lost in despair or denial, or you can recognize the failure and run toward the hope of something new.

On a recent morning I was enjoying my coffee on the porch when I noticed a tree across the street. Forsythia was done blooming, what yellow blooming tree could this be? No tree I discovered as the yellow dots flew away two by two — eight goldfinches!
