Summer lets us enjoy the sweetness and flavors that explode from the culmination of seed and soil, sun and rain, watching and waiting. A gift!
What fruit are you nurturing this summer?

… watching for the brushstrokes of God

Summer lets us enjoy the sweetness and flavors that explode from the culmination of seed and soil, sun and rain, watching and waiting. A gift!
What fruit are you nurturing this summer?

“There is a realm of time where the goal is not to have but to be, not to own but to give, not to control but to share, not to subdue but to be in accord“ ~ Abraham Joshua Heschel
How do you find the realm of time?

As I understand it, the Chinese language creates words with pictures. The word leisure combines “space” and “sunshine”, busyness is painted from “heart” and “killing”. I recently took a retreat at a cabin inviting me to be with “sitting” and “creek”.
What are the words that shape your sabbath spaces?

Be silent.
Be still.
Alone.
Empty
Before your God.
Say nothing.
Ask nothing.
Be silent.
Be still.
Let your God look upon you.
That is all.
God knows.
God understands.
God loves you
With an enormous love,
And only wants
To look upon you
With that love.
Quiet.
Still.
Be.
Let your God—
Love you. ~ Edwina Gateley

Spring is full of new life and it caught my attention that new life follows a period of rest or apparent death…whether seedlings poking through the ground, flowers coming up from bulbs, butterflies emerging from their chrysalis….
How do we pay attention to the rest and stillness that comes before new life?

“Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” ~ Maya Angelou
Do you notice the ripple effects?
